Swedestart® electric starters for Harley Davidson Big Twins 1936-1957.
Swedestart® has developed a functional Starter Kit for “old” Harley Davidson and similar aftermarket clones, copies, chopper, and customs on rigid frames. On standard rigid frames, no modifications on the Swedestart® Kit is needed but may be used on aftermarket rigid frames. The starter motor, 1,6 Kw, internal solenoid, and a planet tranny means you do not need any compression valves, even on high comp set up, compression valves will save wear and help the start-up sequence.
For this kit to work, the bike must be converted with a primary belt drive. The 8mm steel starter sprocket needs to be bolted on to a belt clutch basket to work.
The Swedestart® Kit is mounted on an 8mm steel plate behind the original tranny and is bolted onto the rear original gearbox fastening bolts. Gear box with the short main shaft or the #2 shaft is preferred.
No need to make any alterations to the oil tank or the clutch arm, and of course you keep the kick pedal (original look is important). Swedestart® knows that owners and riders of pristine and Vintage Bikes are skilled in or know others who are capable and have access to the tools needed to mount the Swedestart® Kit and will understand the assembly instructions.
As mentioned above, the primary driveline must be an aftermarket belt drive. The Swedestart® Kit works with all types, from the 3-inch-wide preferred on choppers to the smaller enclosed by the original cover. Electric schematics and assembly instructions are included in the Swedestart® Kit.
The user needs to supply a battery, a minimum 290 cca, and the cables needed to hook it up, and if not already installed the primary belt drive.
